Police: Thieves Target Sweepstakes Businesses

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Police say a group of suspects have been targeting sweepstakes businesses in the Triad.

Burlington Police responded to Feeling Lucky on 2141 N Church Street just before 2 a.m. Wednesday, after someone called to report a security guard was struggling with a suspect who was stealing money from a machine.

Officers discovered one of the suspects listed below made it past the lock on one of the machines and stole money.  The three remaining suspects are considered persons of interest.

The suspects are described as:

  • Light-skinned black male, weighing about 160lbs, with long dreadlocks with blonde tips, and wearing a black, zip-up jacket, black T-shirt and blue Nike shorts
  • Medium-toned black male, weighing 180 to 200lbs, with short dark hair, and wearing a black sweat suit
  • Light-skinned black male, weighing 180 to 200lbs, and wearing blue jeans and a brown/grey jacket with a toboggan
  • Fair-skinned white female, weighing 120 to 140lbs, with long dark hair, and wearing a black, long-sleeved shirt and dark blue jeans

Police said they later determined the same group was spotted at other sweepstakes businesses in the BMOC shopping center and in Kernersville attempting to carry out the same crime.
