NC Man Found, Arrested In SC After Shooting Into Social Worker's Car: Police

Man Wanted for Shooting Into Social Worker's Car

BURLINGTON, NC -- South Carolina Law Enforcement arrested a man who was considered armed and dangerous in Myrtle Beach early Thursday morning.

Burlington Police say Christopher Neal shot into a Rockingham County Social Services worker's car Tuesday night.

Neal was on the run with his girlfriend, Latanya Whetsell, but with the help of the SBI both were arrested in North Myrtle Beach.

Burlington Police said they were pulled over for a traffic stop before they were arrested.

Both have been taken into custody in South Carolina. Whetsell was arrested for unrelated charges. They are waiting on an extradition hearing before coming back to North Carolina.

The investigation started around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday after police say Carlietha Rosanna Glover was driving her car south on W. Webb Avenue.

She told police as she approached the intersection of W. Webb Avenue and Glenn Raven Road, a black BMW SUV drove up next to her and fired a gunshot into the driver’s side of her car.

Glover said she was not shot, so she drove to the Burlington Police Department parking to meet with officers.

Police found the SUV driver to be Christopher Lee Neal, 42, of Reidsville. Police obtained warrants for Neal on the following charges: Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, and Shooting Into an Occupied Vehicle.

Police said they believe Glover was targeted by Neal because of her job.

Neal's whereabouts are unknown at this time, but police think he might have returned to the Rockingham County area. Police say he should be considered armed and dangerous.
