Seagrove House Fire Turns Into Murder Case

SEAGROVE, N.C. -- A fire investigation has now turned into a murder investigation in Seagrove.

That's after an autopsy revealed that a 71-year-old man found dead inside the house on Saturday was not killed by the fire.

According to Neil Godfrey, Moore County Sheriff, a firefighter found Elden Kitson Vanderwall's body in the house on Brewer Road early Saturday morning.

The Moore County Sheriff's Office has not released information at this time about how the elderly man died. They also have not arrested anyone in Vanderwall's death.

Further investigation in the case is continuing according to deputies.
