Triad Deputy on Paid Leave After Shooting Man Who Didn't Drop Gun When Told

YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. -- The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer-involved shooting.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office said one of their deputies shot at a person while responding to a shooting call Saturday morning at a house on Ray T Moore Road in Yadkinville.

The Sheriff’s Office said the homeowner confronted deputies with a gun and refused to put it down. The homeowner then took aim at the deputies. That's when a deputy shot the homeowner who was later taken to the hospital.

The Sheriff's Office said the homeowner had also previously shot at two other people and also their vehicle earlier that morning at the home.

The Yadkin County Sheriff’s Office said the deputy involved in the shooting is on paid administrative leave which is the procedure for an officer-involved shooting. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations is also investigating the shooting.
