Vehicle Pursuit Ends In Crash, Driver Missing, Car Stolen

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- The Alamance County Sheriff's Office says a vehicle pursuit ended in a crash.

On Thursday night the Sheriff's Office received a call about a shooting on NC Highway 62 near Guilford County. The caller said one of the vehicles was shooting at another vehicle.

A deputy in the area was on an unrelated call near NC Highway 62 at E.M. Holt School when a vehicle matching the description passed the deputy. The deputy then tried to pull over the car. The deputy got out of his patrol car when suddenly the driver sped off. But he was unable to regain sight of the car after it took off.

Burlington Police later received a call about a vehicle accident on NC Highway 62. It was determined it was the same vehicle that sped off during the traffic stop. Officers did not find a suspect in the area.

The vehicle that crashed was reported stolen from Durham on April 4.
