Winston-Salem Man Killed In Random Shooting: Police

2 Charged For Winston-Salem Shootings

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Winston-Salem Police have arrested two people after a man was shot and killed early Tuesday morning.

Police arrested Norman Kennard Carter Jr. and charged him with murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Nakia Danielle Foster was also arrested and charged with accessory after the fact to murder.

Officers responded to a reported shooting on 23rd Street just after 2:00 a.m. Police say they found Alphonzo Singletary dead at the scene.

According to the police report, a witness provided a description of the suspect vehicle and officers were able to find a matching vehicle a few moments later.

Investigators say Mr. Singletary was walking on the sidewalk in the 1200 block of E. 23rd Street when Carter fired his gun from a vehicle driven by Foster, striking Mr. Singletary in the lower back.

Investigators say Carter also fired multiple shots at a home in the area before shooting Mr. Singletary. No injuries were reported at that residence.

Detectives say the targets of these crimes were chosen randomly and were not known to Carter or Foster.

Foster is being held in Forsyth County Jail under a $2,000,000 secured bond. Carter is being held in Forsyth County Jail with no bond allowed.

Police are still investigating the murder but say they aren't looking for other suspects.
