Krispy Kreme's Original Glazed Going Dark For the Eclipse

Krispy Kreme is ditching their original glaze for the first time. Angeli Kakade (@angelikakade) has the story.

WINSTON-SALEM - Krispy Kreme's classic glazed doughnut is getting 'eclipsed' for a brief time.

To celebrate the solar eclipse on Aug. 21, Krispy Kreme's most popular treat is going dark with a chocolate glaze for a limited time.

The KK website says fans can get a first taste of the limited-time doughnut when the 'Hot' sign is on Saturday, Aug. 19 and Sunday, Aug. 20. 

“The solar eclipse is a rare occasion providing a total sensory experience for viewers across the continental U.S. Chocolate will have the same effect as we introduce a first-time chocolate glazing of our iconic Original Glazed Doughnut,” said Jackie Woodward, Chief Marketing Officer for Krispy Kreme. “The Chocolate Glazed Doughnut is a delicious way to experience the solar eclipse — no matter where you are — and we can’t wait for fans to try it.”

Last week, the Winston-Salem based chain announced a Reese's Peanut Butter doughnut.
