High School Options Within Guilford County Schools

Guilford County, NC - Every parent wants their child to go to the best schools, get the best education and have the best opportunities. Where your child goes to school is an important decision and starting January 16th, you can get the process going.

This year, Guilford County Schools will offer five High School Options nights throughout January and February. These events will allow parents to meet with representatives from each of the high school programs to discuss the school's benefits and application process.

The events are from 6:30pm to 8pm at the following locations:

  • Wednesday, Jan. 16, Bessemer Elementary, 918 Huffine Mill Road, Greensboro
  • Wednesday, Jan. 23, Laughlin Professional Development Center, 7911 Summerfield Road, Summerfield
  • Tuesday, Jan. 29, Reedy Fork Elementary, 4571 Reedy Fork Parkway, Greensboro
  • Monday, Feb. 4, Vandalia Elementary, 407 E. Vandalia Road, Greensboro
  • Tuesday, Feb. 12, Ragsdale High, 1000 Lucy Ragsdale Drive, Jamestown.

GCS offers 21 high school programs that can prepare students for career programs or provide college credit, tuition-free. In some cases, students can earn associate degrees or trade certifications while attending high school. GCS magnet programs are designed to fit a wide range of learning styles, class sizes and area of interests.

Also, keep Saturday, January 26th on your calendar. More than 50 magnet and choice programs, including high school programs, will be represented at the GCS Magnet Fair that day. It's from 9am to 12:30pm at Showplace in High Point. The magnet and choice application deadline is Friday, Feb. 22nd at 5pm. For more information, visit www.gcsnc.com/magnet or call 336-378-8832.
