WENTWORTH, NC - If you have medications you do not know how to get rid of, the Rockingham Sheriff's Office is here to help.
Sheriff Sam Page started Project Lazarus as a place to drop-off any surplus or unused prescription medicine. The drop-off is pills only, deputies will not accept medical devices, liquids, or syringes.
If you are interested in dropping off old pills you can go to the Sheriff's Office lobby ( 170 NC-65, Reidsville, NC 27320) and drop it off in the marked boxes. Drop-offs can be made 24 hours a day and seven days a week.
All pills should be put into a clear plastic bag and no in their prescription bottles.
Last year the sheriff's office collected 64 and a half pounds of pills through this program.
“That’s almost 65 pounds of pills here in Rockingham County that we know will not fall into the wrong hands, namely, a child’s” said Sheriff Sam Page.
