Help The United Way "Fill the Bus" With School Supplies

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- With the high cost of school supplies, some students could head back to school in a few days without the tools they need to succeed in their classes.

One organization is making sure that isn't the case.

The United Way of Greater High Point is hosting its "Fill the Bus" campaign this weekend at three Walmart stores. The organization hopes to fill a school bus with school supplies to give to local students who need them.

You can find collection bins at the Walmart stores on North and South Main streets and the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Precision Way. Volunteers from the United Way, Communities in Schools and other groups will be out from 9 a.m. to noon collecting items.

If you can't make it to one of the stores Saturday, the collection bins will still be out at the locations during Walmart's regular business hours.

And, don't forget, you can also get supplies to local students in need through WFMY News 2's "Tools for School" campaign. Collection bins will be at participating Walmart and Schiffman's Jewelers stores through Aug. 31.
