If you're an early bird, who's up before the sun, you've probably caught Lauren Melvin on The Good Morning Show.
Lauren is an Emmy Award-winning journalist, who anchors The Good Morning Show on WFMY News 2 from 5 to 8 a.m.
Lauren joined WFMY News 2 as a general assignment reporter in June of 2011. In April of 2013, Lauren started setting her alarm clock earlier and joined the Good Morning Show team. From her Fitness Friday segments to the Read 2 Succeed program at Triad elementary schools, Lauren loves every aspect of her job!
She previously produced and anchored 2 Wants to Know Restaurant Report Card for WFMY News 2 as well.
Before heading south to the Triad, Lauren was the morning anchor and a general assignment reporter at WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Among her most memorable stories there is her extensive coverage of the fundraising efforts and construction of the Flight 93 National Memorial.
Lauren fell in love with broadcasting and the fast pace of the newsroom in college, when she interned at CBS News in the Washington Bureau, Cox Broadcasting in the Washington Bureau and at a local TV station. Her interest in politics also led her to work in the White House and on Capitol Hill.
Lauren is a 2007 graduate of The George Washington University, where she graduated Cum Laude from the School of Media and Public Affairs. She also studied European television and media and politics in Barcelona, Spain.
Lauren and her husband are proud parents of a little girl. They're also runners, so you'll likely catch them pounding the pavement or exploring the Triad's awesome running trails. And as self-proclaimed foodies, they love to cook and try new restaurants!
