CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Avery Woods is the kind of neighborhood where many of the homes are lit up by Christmas decorations around this time of the year.
One mom who asked us not to reveal her identity told us she was outside putting her Christmas decorations up when a group of boys was seen playing on the road.
Now she's wondering just what the neighborhood kids were up to after hearing the details from one police report.
According to reports, one of her neighbors said a group of kids attacked a 10-year-old boy. The boy was hit, shoved and even suffered a cut from a knife.
"It's really disturbing and upsetting," said the woman. "Makes me cringe thinking about letting my youngest go to the park that something like this could happen in the neighborhood."
Police tell us they haven't made any arrests and neighbors say the whole thing is just shocking to hear in this upscale Ballantyne neighborhood.
“Very family oriented," She said of the neighborhood. "A lot of great families, tons of kids, always kids outside playing and having fun so to hear this is unbelievable."
