Man Facing DWI Charge in Crash That Killed 2 Central Davidson HS Students

LEXINGTON, N.C.--- Students in Davidson County were greeted with sad news at the start of their day after learning two students had been killed in a crash.

According to Highway Patrol, Terry Hill was driving and drifted across the center lane and hit a car with the students inside head on. 

The Cameron Hedrick and Ann Ascension were taken to the hospital where they died from their injuries. 

Hill's car caught on fire but he was able to get out and was transported to a local hospital where he is going to be okay. 

Highway Patrol also told WFMY News 2 Hill is facing DWI charges as well as other drug-related charges. 

A spokesperson for Davidson County Schools released this statement about the students killed.

We received information about two of our students at Central Davidson High School and we are deeply saddened about the passing away of Anna Ascencion and Cameron Hedrick. According to our current information, Anna and Cameron were involved in a tragic car accident this morning.

The teachers and students are very much saddened by the news. Our focus is on supporting the family, students and staff members of Central Davidson High School. Guidance counselors, social workers and support staff are on campus to provide counseling and support for the staff and students. We are asking our school community for their thoughts and prayers for the student's families and friends,and the students and staff at Central Davidson High School.
