STATESVILLE, N.C. -- A fire that started Thursday evening at a lumber yard reignited Friday morning, and at least two firemen have been transported to the hospital.
The fire sparked around 8 p.m. Thursday at the Godfrey Lumber Yard in the 100 block of Whitesmill Road in Statesville.
The multi-alarm blaze prompted the response of six departments: Mooresville, Statesville, Monticello, Troutman, West Iredell and Wayside.
Crews battled the fire well into the night Thursday, only to have the blaze reignite Friday morning around 6.
The Troutman Fire Chief was taken to the hospital for treatment of heat-related issues. Iredell County EMS says they transported one person from the scene Friday morning.
Firefighters are keeping an eye on the lumber yard to make sure there are no more issues.
