2 Men Help Police Chase Down Man Trying to Break Into Cars in Parking Lot

WINSTON-SALEM - Two men saw another man breaking into cars in a Winston-Salem parking lot and later chased him by car, helping police catch him Tuesday morning. 

Terry Smith and Nathan Williams saw Dionte Wallace trying to break into cars in the parking lot of Adventure Landing on South Stratford Road and tried to confront him. Wallace then shot at Smith and Wallace three times, missing them.

Smith and Williams then called 911 and began following Wallace by car after he drove off. Winston-Salem Police then caught Wallace in a traffic stop at the intersection of Old Vineyard Rd. and Old Vineyard Ct around 6:45 a.m. 

Wallace was charged with:

  • Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill (2 counts)
  • Possession of Stolen Firearm
  • Discharging Firearms in City Limits

Wallace, 21, was given a $15,000 bond.
