With news of security breaches you might think identity theft happens all on-line. Not so. Most identity theft happens through paper documents.
2WTK is all about giving you information that helps to make your life better. One of the easiest ways to protect your money, your time, your identity is to shred documents or mail with your personal information. When you throw it away, it's easy pickings for the bad guys. So shred it! But shredding it all one piece of paper at a time is time consuming.
2WTK has a solution: the big ProShred trucks that do the shredding for you! Last year, hundreds of you came out to our 2 Shred-A-Thons. In fact so many of you came out we had to get extra trucks. In total we shredded 12 tons of paper in 2013.
We're ready to help you again for FREE! Get your stacks and boxes of paper and mail together:
Monday, April 28th, 2014 we'll be at the parking lot of JR's Tobacco in Burlington.
NOTE: THE APRIL 29TH SHRED HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED DUE TO THE THREAT OF SEVERE WEATHER! JOIN US MONDAY, MAY 5TH AT FOUR SEASONS TOWN CENTRE IN GREENSBORO.
Then Tuesday, April 29th, 2014 we move the trucks to the Four Seasons Town Centre in Greensboro.
Both Shred-A-Thons are 4pm-7pm. If you're in line at 7pm we will shred your stuff!
What should you bring: old paycheck stubs, credit card offers, old ATM receipts, cancelled checks, tax information that is more than 3 years old (always keep returns), old bank statements, old credit card statements, insurance forms, any documents that are no longer needed but have personal information on them.
Please remember, no binders. Staples and paperclips and even hanging folders are fine. The limit is 3 boxes per car.
The NC Attorney General's office has these extra reminders to guard your personal information: never carry your Social Security card in your wallet. Don't print your SSN or driver's license number on your checks.
You can watch over your credit by getting three free credit reports a year---one from each of the credit bureaus. Space them out so you are getting a credit report every 4 months. The only FREE credit report is Annual Credit Report.
