Consumer Reports estimates Americans will spend $720,000,000 this year at restaurants. That's roughly $2,200 for every man, woman and child. So let's see who serves your dining dollars best.
Nearly 70,000 gave their thoughts on close to 240 restaurant chains. If you're dining with kids, Cracker Barrel topped the list.
For a great steak, the survey respondents ranked Capital Grille the highest. You can find locations in Raleigh or Charlotte. Dinner runs about $60 a person, yipes! You'll spend less than half of that at Longhorn and Outback, but Captial Grille still gets better customer ratings.
And Dave and Busters didn't do so hot when it came to ratings for ambiance, service, value and food. Overall most people think they don't get a great value at chain restaurants. Consumer Reports found people are more likely to feel they're getting a good bang for their buck at independent restaurants.
