Apple's iOS 10 Update Goes Wrong On Some iPhones

For some iPhone owners, the launch of iOS 10 is a time to gleefully share Mario stickers or use Siri to call an Uber.

Then there are those staring at a very expensive slab that is supposed to resemble a smartphone, but no longer does after Apple's iOS 10 update rendered some of those devices useless.

Early reports on Twitter suggest the iOS 10 update, available Tuesday, is turning their smartphones into bricks, which basically means the phone will not operate.

In a statement sent to multiple outlets including Buzzfeed, Apple says the issue has been "quickly resolved" and impacted a small number of users. In the mean time, if you haven't done so already, you should back up your iPhone before downloading iOS 10.

The update introduces big changes to iMessages, including the ability to add stickers to texts. It also expands Siri's capabilities, allowing the personal digital assistant to work with apps such as Pinterest or Uber.
