Detours Are Everywhere! Check This Map..

Flood Victims Use Facebook To Keep Drivers Informed

GREENSBORO, NC -- Hurricane Matthew was the impetus for a Facebook group that solely posts about road closings, detours and issues related to the flooding.

No matter where you're traveling in the state, the NC DOT can help you figure out if you'll have detours or not. Check out the Ready NC page.  Under the "Stay Informed" tab you'll see a sidebar for "Travel Conditions"  and the "NC DOT Traveler information" section.

This page brings you to a map that you can zero in on whatever location you're traveling to. To get more detailed info, go to the project drop down and click in fortify. This will show you all the incidents. When you click on any of the exclamation points, you get a description of what's wrong. Example:  road impassable due to flooding. This will certainly come in handy over the next week as more flooding is expected, but really, anytime you're headed on a road trip, this is a great resource.
