DHHS Still Dealing With Food Stamp Backlog

RALEIGH, N.C. -- About a month after meeting a government deadline, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services is still dealing with a food stamp backlog.

The state met it's first deadline with the U.S. Department of Agriculture to eliminate all longstanding and emergency cases on Feb.10.

There is another deadline the state needs to meet. The USDA is requiring the state the clear the entire backlog and fix other problems by March 31. If the state doesn't meet the deadline by the end of this month, NC DHHS said it will get a formal warning and could lose its federal funding.
