Dining Out With A Health Inspector

If you're eating out locally, you know you should check out the 2 Wants To Know Restaurant Report Card scores. But what does a restaurant inspector look for when they dine out?

2 Wants To Know asked Guilford County inspector, Paula Cox for dirty restaurant giveaways.

"You are going to want to look for general cleanliness," said Cox. "Look at what your hands are touching, like the counter. If it's really sticky, you might want to think twice about that.

She also advises you look at how servers handle your plate. Cox also said you should look at the cleanliness of the dining area and the bathroom. If you notice things out of place, or areas are dirty, that's a sign the restaurant isn't paying attention to details.

2 Wants To Know spoke to another inspector who said the first place he goes in a restaurant is the bathroom. If it's a mess, he leaves.
