The east coast gas supply is still temporarily crippled by the Colonial pipe leak. Gas is expected to start flowing Wednesday night after a crew of 700 worked around the clock to create the 500 foot long bypass.
Colonial moves around 100 million gallons of gas daily through 5,500 miles of underground pipes. 708 miles of that line is right here in North Carolina.

Since 2011, there have been 10 issues with Colonials gas line in Greensboro. Problems like equipment failure and corrosion.
Incidents don't only happen with Colonial's pipes. Nationally, There were 326 significant incidents on gas pipelines last year.
Let's look at the bigger picture. There have been more than 5,672 significant incidents in the past 20 years. All those repairs come with a hefty price tag of $7,542,849,120.
