Piedmont Parent: When Summer Break Gets Boring....Get The Disco Ball Out!

Greensboro, NC -- The newness of summer has worn off, so how do you maintain your sanity with everyone at home all the time? Judy Midero from Piedmont Parent asked for reader ideas and combed through past articles for ways to expose kids to the arts during summer.

For the little ones: getting a little messy and creative topped the list. Piedmont Parent has a list of ways to introduce kids to sculpting, sand art and more.

Also on the list: good ol' dance party; this lets the kids get the wiggles out. Bring old school to new school and check out Youtube videos of dances and let the kids put on a talent show after they have learned and rehearsed.

A round of applause for this next one: see a play by a local theater group. Outside venues, colleges, local productions, the theater is great for the little kids-- even puppet shows. And the older kids can enjoy the plays adults would enjoy so it builds quality time.

Lastly, get outside! This is really good for those middle and high schoolers. Kids feel a sense of accomplishment when they reach the top.

We put it out on facebook last night and most of our readers said hanging rock was their favorite place.Piedmont Parent has several articles on hiking with kids.
