Recycle Or Make Money Off Your Old Phone, Gaming System & More

GREENSBORO, NC --It's Earth Day! Celebrate by cleaning out your house, recycling old electronics or making money off of them!

There are a couple of places in town where you can do both: Staples and Best Buy. Tim Fidler with the Geek Squad with Best Buy gave 2WTK a run down of how their program works.

"Whether recycling or trade-in, the electronic does not have to be a Best Buy product."

Best Buy accepts most consumer electronics. Check the recycling details specific to you and your area.

At Best Buy, you get a gift card on the spot. "It all depends what kind of condition the electronic is in. We go through a series of questions to determine if it is in poor, fair or perfect condition."

These are estimated prices:

Xbox 360 (250GB)- Poor : 67.50$ Fair: 105$ and Perfect: 150$

PS# (250gb)- Poor: 36$ Fair: 54$ Perfect: 90$

Verizon Galaxy S3: Poor: 36$, Fair: 80$, Perfect: 84$

Ipad 2 (16 gb): Poor 67.50$, Fair: 105$, Perfect: 150$

Tim says "perfect means perfect, like out of the box. Most of us have electronics in fair condition. To be deemed fair, you need to bring all batteries, all charging cords. All the buttons need to work.

If you're interested in seeing what your device is worth, Best Buy has a free trade-in calculator.

Minimum $20 Trade-In Offer – Starting April 21 through April 26, Best Buy is giving customers a guaranteed $20 Best Buy gift card when they trade-in a working laptop, tablet, gaming console, MP3 device, digital camera or digital camcorder at any Best Buy store.
