GREENSBORO, NC -- As of the beginning of this week, NCDOT had spent about $36 million statewide in prep work like brining and snow/ice removal. The department only budgeted $40 million for these operations.
Governor Pat McCrory has declared a state of emergency so it's easy to believe that budget could easily be blown. So what happens? The NCDOT told 2 Wants to Know they will continue any operations necessary to keep the roads safe and clear of ice and snow.
If the state goes over-budget, it could impact funds for additional maintenance operations for the remainder of the year. So other projects later this year may not get done. But what needs to get done to keep you safe and clean up for this storm - will get done.
