DATA: Taxpayer Money Spent Settling Harassment Claims Against Senate Offices

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) - The United States Senate released data on sexual harassment on Thursday.

More than $1 million of taxpayer's money was spent settling harassment claims against Senate offices.

WUSA9's Mike Valerio reports $1,452,477.47 in the past 10 years were spent on settling harassment claims.

On Tuesday, congressional watchdog group the Congressional Office of Compliance (OOC) said it didn't have reliable data and could not release the information.

“We lack information regarding the details of allegations or any evidence that might support or refute such allegations,” the Congressional Office of Compliance (OOC) said in a letter Monday.

Senator Tim Kaine (D-Va.) called on the watchdog to disclose how many complaints have been filed against each senator on Capitol Hill over the past 10 years.

The data released Thursday did not include settlement figures for each individual senator.
