1. OPA! OPA!
It’s time to get Greek and enjoy baklava! The Greek Festival takes place May 19-21 in Winston-Salem. It includes all things Greek food & pastries, music, dancing, tours, Greek vendor’s market, cooking demonstrations and children’s games and activities. Admission into the festival is $1. Children 12 and under get in free. Meal tickets are $13 and include a beverage. You can save the $1 admission fee if you purchase a meal ticket before the festival. You can get pre-tickets by calling 336-765-7145. The festival is held at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church located at 435 Keating Drive.

Friday & Saturday: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Sunday: 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

2. WOOF! WOOF!
It’s all about the top dog! This is one woof event you don’t want to miss out on. The Triad Dog Games will take place May 20-21 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. The event includes multiple dog sporting events for the entire family. Games include: Agility, Disc Dog, Dock Jumping, Doggy Daches, Flyball, and other activities. The event benefits the Sergei Foundation. Admission is $10, and $5 for kids 10 and under. Parking is free. Dogs are welcome on leashes. The Winston-Salem Fairgrounds is located at 300 Deacon Blvd. Gate 5 in Winston-Salem.

3. VETERANS APPRECIATION DAY
The 3rd Annual Veterans Appreciation Day is will take place this weekend at the Carolina Field of Honor in Kernersville. The event includes veteran services, military displays, kids inflatables, kids Olympics, kids fun run, and food trucks. The event is May 20 from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. at Triad Park located at 9652 East Mountain Street in Kernersville.

4. T-REX RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!
Calling all dinosaur lovers – this event is for you! The T-Rex Planet will take over the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds this weekend. This is a fun-filled interactive family event. You can embark on a prehistoric journey from the Jurassic, Triassic, and Cretaceous periods and discover dinosaurs up close! The exhibit features life-size ultra-realistic animatronic dinosaurs. Tickets start at $22. The event takes place May 20-21 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex.

5. CELEBRATE CHEERWINE!
Cheerwine is turning 100 and you’re invited to the free Centennial Celebration. The celebration takes place May 20 in downtown Salisbury, N.C. from noon until 8:00 p.m. on North Main Street.

Below is a detailed description of what fans can enjoy:
• Free Cheerwine and commemorative koozies.
• Limited edition Cheerwine merchandise available for purchase starting at noon
• Live music from Time Sawyer, Gyth Rigdon, Empire Strikes Brass, Acoustic Syndicate and Roomful of Blues.
• People’s Choice BBQ Competition (from noon-2 p.m.) with Hog Heaven Barbecue, NC Ribs on Wheels, Rocky Top BBQ, Boone’s Bar-B-Que and Smoke & Go BBQ. Attendees can sample BBQ from each team and vote for their favorites.
• Food from Cheerwine’s partners and friends, including Krispy Kreme (fresh doughnuts made in its “Hot Now Mobile Store”), Bojangles, Fatz Café, Biscuitville, Select Bakery (serving Cheerwine cake), Cackalacky (which makes a “Cheerwine Sweet Sauce”) and King of Pops (which will offer a Cheerwine-flavored popsicle).
• Biergarten with N.C. craft beer, featuring The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery, New Sarum Brewing Company and Morgan Ridge Railwalk Brewery.
• Family-Friendly Kids’ Zone, with magicians, jugglers, rock climbing wall, obstacle course, slides, bounce house, lawn games and more.
• Free tour of Rowan Museum’s multi-room exhibit celebrating Cheerwine’s 100 years. This will include a visit by the historic 1927 Cheerwine Ford Truck.
• Canned Food Drive hosted by Food Lion Feeds and Rowan Helping Ministries to end hunger in Rowan County. Fans are encouraged to make donations of non-perishable food items or money. For every two food items or five dollars donated, fans will be entered to win a gift basket.
• Our State Magazine welcome center.
