A 79-year old military veteran charged with murdering his wife and daughter isn't being scorned by his family.
Police say Bobby King of Spring Lake, N.C. shot and killed his wife, 84-year-old Dorothy King, and 54-year-old daughter Cynthia King Thursday morning at their home. If convicted, King could face the death penalty.
King made a court appearance Friday to hear the judge read two charges of first-degree murder against him. His daughter Cheryl King met with him after the shooting. He was said to have suffered from dementia.
When I walked in, Father didn’t know who I was,” she said. “Then, when his mind came back, he said, ‘Hey, baby,’ like he had no idea what went on. … But I wanted Dad to know I loved him, I forgive him and that we’re here for him.”
King had no criminal record, but police said they were dispatched to their home several times for domestic-related incidents.
“We have received some additional information from the family about domestic-related calls, situations at the home, the father making accusations that property was taken away from him,” said Spring Lake Police Chief Troy McDuffie.
