The massive Equifax data breach is still top of mind for millions of people.
It compromised names, addresses, Social Security numbers, birth dates, and other personal information of 143 million Americans, including 5 million North Carolinians.
The company's new CEO said Equifax hadn't performed well in response to the massive hack and promised to improve their website and call center. But North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein still wants to make sure the company is accountable.
"I'm part of the National Executive Committee of Attorneys General looking into it," he explains. "And if we conclude they violated North Carolina laws I will absolutely take them to court to look out for the people who've been affected."
AG Stein says the Equifax breach is a top priority issue for his office. He says he's asked for information from the company, but hasn't gotten anything back yet.
