It’s almost fall y’all and you know what that means – apples! Get ready for the 16th annual Apple Fest it’s this Saturday, September 17. The event includes fried apple pies, apple cider, and other apple products. Also enjoy live music, dancing, children’s games and activities, craft vendors, colonial re-enactors and more. The event is expected to bring a crowd of about 15,000 people to Historic Bethabara Park in Winston-Salem.  The event takes place from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Head to High Point this weekend for the 46th annual Day in the Park Festival. It takes place Saturday, September 17 at City Lake Park in High Point from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The event includes three stages of live entertainment, 30 arts and craft vendors, food trucks, pirate themed events, folk life exhibitions, and lots of children’s activities. Admission is free and all-day ride tickets are $6.

It’s all about airplanes this weekend at the Miniature Air Show. Take part in the aircraft fun this Saturday, September 17 at Hobby Park in Winston-Salem. The event includes flying R/C models plus so much more fun for kids. Both admission and parking is free for the event. The Aircraft Club will be accepting food donations for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

If animals and gaming are your thing, then you’ll want to go on this safari! The North Carolina Zoo will extend its hours to host a Pokemon Go Evening Safari. It’s this Saturday, September 17 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. The event includes 30 accessible PokeStops and eight gyms. Zoo staff will place Lures at PokeStops throughout the event. It will also include live animal ambassador encounters with four prize bags. The event also includes a $5 admission fee beginning at 4:00 p.m. to benefit the Zoo’s conservation efforts.

You can be a part of the magical world of Alice in Wonderland. Join Winston-Salem Festival Ballet’s Alice in Wonderland characters for a morning of fun at the Kernersville Botanical Garden. Dance with Alice around the grounds, have tea and cookies with the Madd Hatter, help keep the White Rabbit on time, try to spot the Cheshire Cat, play in the Queen’s game of croquet, and frolic along with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. The event is September 17 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Tickets are $20.

The North Carolina Zoo will also celebrate Primate-Palooza on Saturday, September 17 from 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. before extending their hours for Pokemon Go Safari. The Palooza includes music, gorilla information, activities, crafts, face painting, prizes, chimp information, and Baboon photos.
