CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The Medical Examiner has positively identified the remains found in a wooded area in Charlotte as Bianca Richardson Tanner.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department released the information Monday evening and on the same day, the man accused in her murder, Angelo Grayson Smith, Junior appeared in court.
Tanner's body was discovered in a wooded area near the intersection of Shopton Road West and Westinghouse Boulevard on Thursday. That's 20 miles from where Tanner was last seen.
Smith was Tanner's boyfriend and is charged with First Degree murder. Smith has been denied bond and was granted a court appointed attorney. His next court date is July 16.
WFMY News 2's Morgan Hightower talked with Tanner's sister, Cerise Richardson, on Monday.
Richardson said she is thankful for all the prayers they've received and said their prayer was answered, but not in the way they had hoped. She said the family finds comfort in knowing Tanner is in heaven.
