Burlington Officer's Patrol Car Totaled In Accident

BURLINGTON, N.C. -- A Burlington Police Officer was involved in a two-car accident on Thursday. 

Burlington Police Department said it happened shortly before 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Mebane Street and Summit Avenue. 

According to a media release, Officer A.J. Davis tried making a left turn onto South Mebane Street and failed to yield the right of way to the driver of a Buick. Officer Davis crashed his patrol car with Santos Samuel Recino Erazo's Buick. 

Police say a city transit van blocked the view of both Officer Davis and Mr. Erazo. 

A passenger in Mr. Erazo's car was taken to Alamance Regional for injuries but is in stable condition. 

Officer Davis was taken to Alamance Regional but was released. 

Police say Officer Davis' patrol car was totaled. 

Mr. Erazo was charged with operating a motor vehicle with no operator's license.
