Crayons Matter Sending Backpacks To Ghana

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- People in other parts of the world don't have access to most school supplies.

That's why the group Crayons Matter put backpacks together for kids in Ghana who otherwise, won't get the schools supplies they need.

They loaded the backpacks with things like crayons, pencils and notebooks. Another surprise in the backpack, each a piece of art from a child here in the Triad.

The group will deliver about 1,200 backpacks to the kids in Ghana.

Besides helping kids in other countries, the groups is also working to make a difference here.

"Crayons Matter is now engaging with the New Comer School in Greensboro," Courtenay Fields. "Our hope is to supply backpacks filled with school supplies as well as art stations for children in our own back yard."
