Eric Shopping With Ricky Proehl

GREENSBORO, NC -- Former Carolina Panther Ricky Proehl's P.O.W.E.R. of Play Foundation is working to make the holidays bright for local families who may be in need, and they want your help! You can help grant a child’s wish by participating in the Santa’s Helpers program.

You can help by:

• Sponsoring a child and shopping for them individually or as a group/organization
• Dropping off new, unwrapped gifts at Proehlific Park
• Making a monetary donation

The organization suggests the following gift amounts, based upon the child’s age:

• Infants (0-2) $100
• Preschoolers (3-5) $150
• Elementary (6-12) $175
• Teenagers (13-18) $200

In the giving spirit, WFMY News 2's Eric Chilton and Ricky Proehl teamed up to do some holiday shopping! The duo went to Target to buy gifts for children in need.

Proehl said he enjoys seeing kids' light up when they have presents to open. "There's not a better feeling than seeing these kids come in and see the smiles on their faces. When you hand them the gifts. It's the true meaning of Christmas to give. Words can't describe how it makes me feel."

You can get the same great feeling by becoming one of Santa's Helpers. Find more information on how to get involved below.
