Former Triad School Employee Charged with Soliciting Teenager Online

ASHEBORO, N.C. -- Detectives in Randolph County say a former school employee is facing charges for sending obscene images and soliciting a teenager online.

On Monday, the Internet Crimes Against Children and School Resource Officers Division charged Michael Ray Parker, 41, with:

  • 2 counts: Disseminating Obscene Material to Minor
  • 1 count: Solicit Child by Computer

Investigators said in a news release that one victim who Parker tried to solicit online is a 13-year-old girl.

The task force also received help from Randolph County Schools in Parker's arrest.

Tim Moody with RCS confirmed to WFMY News 2 that Michael Ray Parker was a Student Advocate at Southwestern Randolph Middle School. Moody also said Parker submitted his resignation, effective immediately.

Parker is in the Randolph County Jail under a $35,000 bond.
