RONDA, N.C. (AP) - An off-duty Forsyth County sheriff's deputy has been killed in a wreck in Wilkes County.
Local media outlets reported that 35-year-old Hayden Wesley Church of Milles Creek died when his pickup truck flipped three times Sunday morning near the town of Ronda.
North Carolina Highway Patrol Trooper K.W. Dean says Church was traveling north on U.S. 421 when he ran into the median around 6:15 a.m., overcorrected and rolled over three times before running off the right side of the road and into some trees.(backslash)
Dean says Church was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Church had been with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office since January 2015.
Last month, Forsyth County Sheriff's Deputy Sheriff J.T. Isenhour died from his injuries after being hit by a car while on duty at Tanglewood Park.
