FSU Player's Jersey Is About More Than Basketball Games

GREENSBORO, N.C.-- Whenever Florida State University (FSU) basketball sophomore player Montay Brandon put his game day jersey on, it's no longer just about winning the game. In fact, putting on the number #32 jersey isn't about basketball at all, it's about honoring a friend.

Brandon is thinking about his friend, Josh Level, who died playing the game he's still playing. In February 2013 Level, of Greensboro, collapsed and later died while playing in a high school basketball game in Winston-Salem. Brandon and Josh were friends and played together on the same AAU team.

Last year Brandon wore a different number on his jersey and asked the coach if he could change it number 32 for the rest of his time at FSU. Thursday, ACC and Basketball fans across the nation saw Brandon play wearing Josh's number. Wearing Josh's number on his jersey is like having a sixth man on the court for Brandon.

WFMY News 2 talked to Brandon after FSU beat Maryland in a thriller game that came was won on a last second bucket.

Brandon told WFMY he thinks about his friend Josh every time he puts the jersey on and touches the number #32 on it.

Josh's Dad shared his thoughts on missing his son and they way Brandon is honoring him.
