Gallup Poll: Respect For Police Near All-Time High

Polls Shows High Level Of Respect For Officer

Respect for police has climbed to a nearly all-time high, according to a new Gallup Poll.

The poll shows three in four Americans (76%) have "a great deal" of respect for local police.

This is a twelve point increase from 2015, and just one point below the all-time high recorded in 1967.

17% of people surveyed said they have "some" respect for police, and 7% said they had "hardly any."

WFMY News 2's Jessica Mensch asked Triad community members how much they respected local police.

Out of 30 people interviewed at Lebauer Park in Greensborom 28 people said they have "a great deal" of respect, 1 person said they have "some," and 1 person said they have "hardly any."

We also posted a survey on the WFMY News 2 Twitter. Out of 124 votes, 76% said they have "a great deal" of respect for police, 19% said they have "some" and 5% said they have "hardly any."
