3 Ways To Keep Your Sanity During Your Job Search

Manage Your Job Stress

The job search can be exhausting.  You fill out applications, polish your resume, network and go on job interviews. Then the waiting begins.  You wait -- wait -- and wait some more to the point where you find yourself stressed out and impatient.

What should you do to manage the stress? Do something that you have control over and that is take a temporary  break from the job search. Here are my 3 suggestions.

1) Get enough sleep. According to the American Psychological Association, when you’re well rested you feel less overwhelmed, less irritable and have more energy. Exactly what you need to continue your job search.

2) Meditate. When you focus/streamline your breathing, calm your mind and release negative thoughts, you’re able to reduce stress and increase tranquility.

3) Exercise. Exercising disrupts negative thoughts because you’re focusing on your work out. Additionally, exercising reduces your cortisol, which is your stress hormone. You’ll feel better after a brisk walk or a work out.
