WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The American Red Cross says now is the time to donate blood before the summer begins. The Red Cross is preparing for a decline in blood donations; which happens every summer across the country.
Typically, people who might donate become busier in the summer with vacations and children off from school. The impact means a decrease in blood donations which are critically important to the area.
Donors of all blood types are needed to help accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving cancer treatment.
The American Red Cross is making a special call for donors this month at locations across the Triad.
You can call (800)-RED-CROSS (1-800-733-2767) or click here to get information on how to donate your blood and available locations in North Carolina.
