Archdale Chili Cook Off Helps Famlies At Christmas Time

Chili Cook off Benefits Archdale Christmas Cheer Fund

ARCHDALE, N.C. -- You're probably thinking you have months until Christmas and that you don't need to plan ahead. But here's a reason to start thinking about the holidays now.  You can help families in need have gifts on Christmas morning just by attending this weekend's Big Galute Chili Cook-off and Cruise-in.

J.D. Peace is the president of the Archdale/Trinity SerCo Club which is short for: Service to the Community.

The SerCo Club provides assistance on a needs basis year round with heat, utilities, rent, groceries, school supplies and more.  "At Christmas, we provide gifts for children and families who cannot afford them," said Peace. "We sponsor individual families and collect items to hand out to families in our community."

In 2014, SerCo was able to brighten the holidays for more than 350 children, seniors and families.

You can help the club's Christmas Cheer Fund this weekend.  The 6th Annual Big Galute Chili Cook-off takes place on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Creekside Park in Archdale.

"For five bucks you can sample some of the best Chili in the area," said Peace.  There's also a raffle drawing for several items including an autographed Carolina Panthers football helmet.

The Chili Cook-off and Cruise-in starts at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016.  Enjoy live music, entertainment and even bouncy houses for the kids.  For more information, click here.
