BURLINGTON, N.C. -- A 1960's classic is making its way back to a Triad stage. The Gallery Players Present Bye-Bye Birdie for the next two weekends: Sept. 23-25 and Sept. 30-Oct. 2 in Burlington.
The musical was inspired by popular singer Elvis Presley and his draft notice into the Army in 1957. It's been performed over the decades throughout the world and now local actors are putting it on a Burlington stage.
"People can expect a lot of fun, campy humor and really awesome musical numbers with songs and dances and a cast that really loves performing and has so much fun on stage," said Mikaela Mock, who stars at Kim MacAfee in the musical.
This is the Gallery Players' 45th season presenting theater in Alamance County.
"Join us for our opening night and enjoy our annual season opening gala on September 23 after the show," explained Tracy Carey, who works with the Gallery Players. "It's a fun show for everyone and then stay for a wonderful show afterwards."
Other show dates include September 24, 25, 30, October 1, and October 2, 2016.
