Celebrate Wheels On The Greenway, Donate Old Bikes

Wheels on the Greenway

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- You can donate your family's old bicycles this weekend and learn all about bike safety while you're at it!

The Downtown Greenway has partnered with local businesses to host Wheels on the Greenway on Sunday, May 7 from 2 to 4 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public at the Morehead Park Trailhead on Spring Garden Street in Downtown Greensboro.

Crumley Roberts is sponsoring a bike rodeo for kids. They'll give away free bike helmets and t-shirt to all kids who participate.

Morehead Foundry will offer hotdogs, hamburgers, and items from the Baker and the Bean for sale during the event. They'll also host a special cookie decorating activity for kids!

Bikesboro and cycles de ORO will be doing bike tune-ups during Wheels on the Greenway.

Local band, ToadFrogs, will be playing during the event.

Fire department and police department bike teams will also be on hand to show off their equipment and escort bikers along the 1 mile route from Morehead Park at Spring Garden Street to the Warnersville Recreation Center and back. Feel free to decorate your bike for the ride!

There will also be a pop-up Skatepark sponsored by Camara Studios, Above Board and Board Paradise.

Several other groups will also be at Wheels on the Greenway, sharing information about getting active and bike safety.

And while you're there, you can donate gently used bicycles to the Warnersville Recreation Center.  They're accepting donated, gently used bike locks as well.

For more information, visit the Wheels on the Greenway website.
