REIDSVILLE, N.C. -- Taking a horrible situation and making it count matters, especially when a young life is involved. A Triad mom lost her infant twins and it inspired her to help other moms deal with their loss too.
"I lost my twin girls back in 2013. One after 5 days and one after a month and eleven days. So I started this foundation as a way to help other moms," said Tameka Goods, the founder of the S&K Preemie Love Foundation.
Goods started the S&K Preemie Love Foundation in honor of her twins Shayla and Kayla Goods.
The second annual walk will help women and families deal with their loss as well.
"We help other moms, support them and encourage them to honor their angel who's moved on," explained Goods. "I want them to know there are other people out there who have experienced this as well and we are all in this together."
The 2016 Star And Angel 5K Walk coincides with Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month.
"This is our way of helping others who are experiencing losses, to let them know we support them," said Ni-Kia Pass, who works with the organization.
The walk takes place Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Reidsville YMCA. On-site registration is $20, beginning at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m.
The Foundation is encouraging people to wear a tutu or a shirt in honor of their precious babies.
