Crab Cakes With Pear And Napa Cabbage Slaw

Greensboro, N.C.-- Faith and Ed were back in the WFMY News 2 kitchen Sunday. This time, the duo learned from Chris Russell from B. Christopher's in Burlington.

A simple but tasty dish, crab cakes were paired with a new kind of slaw made withpear and napa cabbage. Click on the video for all the details!

Crab Cakes

8oz lumb crab meat
1 tbl. spoon mayo
1/2 tbl. spoon whole grain mustard
1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper and red onion
1 tbl. spoon Panko (Japanese) bread crumbs
pinch of salt and pepper

1. sauté peppers and onions until transparent
2. In large mixing bowl add all ingredients and fold together gently
3. Shape mixture into patty shapes (about a half dollar size)
4. In a hot greased pan brown the exterior of the crab cakes
5. Transfer crab cakes into a pre heated 350* oven for 6 min.
6. Serve with slaw

Pear and Napa cabbage slaw
8oz finely chopped Napa cabbage
1/2 of a green pear cut into fine strips
1 tbl. spoon mayo
1 tsp. spoon of dried thyme
1 tsp. red wine vinegar
1 tsp. olive oil
pinch of sugar

1. Mix all ingredients in a large mixing bowl
2. Let sit for 30 min. before serving
