Feast Of Caring Helps Combat Poverty

Serving Up Soup And Help At 'Feast Of Caring'

HIGH POINT, NC -- More than 18% of people in Guilford County live below the poverty line. Before you read that number and quickly forget it, think about this - that percentage is people, our neighbors, who we can help. That number is also higher than North Carolinas statewide average and the national poverty average.

Organizations like Open Door Ministries help combat poverty. Their goal is not to put a band-aid on the problem, but to fix it. Through programs like Father's Table, that serves three meals a day, to helping people find permanent and supportive housing and jobs - they tackles the issues associate with poverty. Now you can help them, help others.

Open Door is hosting the "Feast Of Caring," on Thursday, November 9th. This fundraiser collected more than $25,000 last year to help support Open Door and their various programs. You can enjoy a soup lunch or dinner while listening to live music from 11-2:00 p.m. and again from 5-8:00 p.m. The meals are at the First Presbyterian Church at 918 N Main Street in High Point. Tickets range from $15 to $25. You can buy tickets and make a donation here.
