GREENSBORO, N.C. -- If you're looking to update your home, or you just want to dream a little bit, this is your weekend to do it! It's the final weekend for the 2016 Fall Parade of Homes.
Home renovation expert Tom Garcia, with Southern Evergreen, gave you a sneak peek during The Good Morning Show.
This year, there are 40 homes on the tour. Garcia said while you may not be in the market for a million dollar home, the tour provides an excellent opportunity to gather ideas for your home.
Garcia highlighted a kitchen, where they used granite stone in connection with wood to create the island. Also, the backsplash was a traditional subway pattern, but they used glass tile instead of ceramic to give it a great look.
On the tour, you'll also find several trend ideas. In one family, Garcia highlighted the wall around the fireplace that was covered with ship lap siding instead of drywall. It helps break up the room with a different texture. The mantle was just a large piece of reclaimed wood. There were so many elements in the room that made it pop including the trim work and the coffered ceiling.
One of the bestselling features of any home is the Master Bath. Garcia showed off a master bath on the tour where the tub is a modern variation of an old claw foot tub. The plumbing is also a recreation of old time faucets. But the walk in shower, surrounded by frameless glass, is all new.
Outdoor living is also a big draw for any home. Garcia showed off a home with not only a large swimming pool, but also a fireplace. The stamped concrete allows for beauty as well as durability and the deck was designed for low maintenance.
The Parade of Homes is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, October 22 and Sunday, October 23.
Admission is free.
