Free College Readiness Workshops For Triad Families

Free College Readiness Workshops

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Consider this your college money reality check.  It costs between $13,000 & $18,000 to send your child to college.  That's in state tuition.  Out of state tuition ranges upwards to $32,000 for a private university.

Unless you have that kind of money lying around, you're going to need to take advantage of programs that can help.

Mount Zion Baptist Church in Greensboro is hosting a series of free workshops this month to help Triad families get ready for college.

The series entitled Planning, Applying and Paying For College will take place on the following dates.

Tuesday, October 18, 2016:  CFNC- College Foundation of North Carolina will present a workshop on Planning and Paying for College plus the free tools available to help your search.

Tuesday, October 25, 2016:  The church will host a Say YES to Education Presentation

Tuesday, November 29, 2016: The church hosts FAFSA Day.  Financial Aid representatives from several colleges will help families complete the Federal Student Aid Application.

"We have experts coming to help students get a greater understanding with what it's going to take and to start now," said Felicia Andrews, who's on the Youth Ministry Advisory Council at Mount Zion Baptist Church. "Even our younger ages, start now with the train of thought with what it's going to take to get into college, be successful in college and then graduate from college."

All workshops are at the church located at 1301 Alamance Church Road in Greensboro at 6:30 p.m.  It's free and open to everyone.  You can find more information by clicking here.
