Guilford County, N.C. -- A free day of family fun for Guilford County students is coming up and you don't want to miss it.
The fourth annual Guilford County Schools Family Fun Day is made possible through fundraising efforts by the Guilford Parent Academy and generous community partners.
Haley Miller, program administrator for Guilford Parent Academy and Lindsay Whitley, director of Guilford Parent Academy, joined WFMY News 2's Tracey McCain on the Good Morning Show to talk about the event.
"It's a day of canoeing, swimming, water slides, mini golf, entertainment, amusement rides and other family activities," said Miller. "Kids who don't normally have opportunities to go to parks like this because they can't afford it, can go for free."
The Family Fun Day is from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at City Lake Park in Jamestown. While they want families to go, they also need volunteers.
"We need about 250 volunteers to make this happen," explained Miller.
"Without our volunteers and community partners, we wouldn't be able to make this happen," said Whitley.
Family Fun Day is sponsored by Guilford County Schools, the City of High Point, Guilford County Association of Educators, the U.S. Department of Education, Partners for Healthy Youth, Guilford County Council of PTAs and the YMCA.
