GCS Kicks Off Reading Rocks Book Drive

Help Other Kids Learn To Read By Donating Books!

GREENSBORO, NC -- WFMY News 2 promotes the importance of reading every week and one Triad school's service learning project wants to help others learn how to read.

Lindsey Nail is the Jesse Wharton Elementary School teacher representative to the United Way. She joined Eric Chilton on the Good Morning Show to talk about the Reading Rocks program!

The goal is to help the students collect as many books as possible for them to donate to help other kids learn to read. The books get donated to the United Way literacy programs. Last year, the school collected and donated 2,200 books.

So parents can help by helping their children collect books! They can be new or used in good condition. Then have the child bring them to school with them this week!

The drive ends October 14th.
